COMPANY Cuts

COMPANY Cuts, 2019, video still from cut scenes, paper lithography, custom cast concrete frames, dimensions variable

This is a series of works pairing paper litho prints of stills from scenes cut from “COMPANY” (2018) with text from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, R.U.R. (the 1920 play by Karel Capek, the first use of the word "robot"), and Adolfo Bioy Casares’s The Invention of Morel, all texts that deal in different ways with ideas in the video, such as the bringing to life of lifeless matter, the insertion of animacy into the inanimate, and the use of the moving image and phantasmagoria as a means of dealing with site-based memory.

The prints are cast in custom concrete frames, referencing the seating in the video installation of COMPANY, as well as the plentiful concrete used in adaptive reuse architecture.
