Satan plays his favorite trick. 2017. Video still from HD video with sound.
Satan plays his favorite trick responds to the architecture and design of the Trump Tower New York atrium: pink marble, gold mirrors, and a large fountain. The piece premiered at a pop-up show at the Jewish Museum, New York in the context of the exhibition, The Arcades: Contemporary Art and Walter Benjamin, which considered contemporary artworks through the lens and structure of cultural theorist Walter Benjamin’s Arcades Project, his monumental unfinished collection of writings and texts about the distinctive arcades, city life, and culture of 19th-century Paris. The title comes from the Mirrors chapter/convolute of Benjamin’s Arcades Project.
